About Me

MY STORY

I am Md Mahmudul Hasan

Welcome to my personal blog! I started this blog as a side project in March 2024 to share my experience, knowledge, and expertise in DevOps Engineering

I am employed as an Intermediate DevOps Engineer II and work remotely full-time at impact.com. I joined in August 2022, right after finishing my doctorate.

As a member of Impact’s infrastructure team, I’m tasked with the responsibility of meticulously planning and executing AWS and GCP-based cloud infrastructure solutions engineered for scalability. This entails not only creating but also updating automation scripts utilizing Python and Bash to effectively manage and provision cloud resources.

Furthermore, my role extends to automating software deployments and server configurations through the adept utilization of configuration management technologies like Puppet. Collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams, I ensure the timely resolution of issues and project completion, troubleshooting the production system and application glitches as they arise.

In pursuit of a secure environment, I implement security best practices, encompassing secure access policies, communication protocols, and regular vulnerability scans. Leveraging automation tools like Packer, I craft machine images tailored for the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), streamlining infrastructure provisioning processes.

Moreover, I am deeply involved in maintaining optimal application delivery and ensuring high availability through the management, implementation, and maintenance of the F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM). By proactively addressing infrastructure challenges and embracing cutting-edge technologies, I contribute to the robustness and efficiency of Impact’s infrastructure landscape.

Academic Voyage

My path to a bachelor’s degree in mathematics began in 2006 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, at Jagannath University. I had no idea this adventure would bring me to someone who would change my life.

Her name, Dr. Farhana Sarower, became synonymous with knowledge, caring, and love in my life. Her intelligence, compassion, and beautiful spirit captured me from the moment I met her.  I will talk more about it in my personal details.

In August 2014, I embarked on a new chapter of my academic journey as I crossed oceans to pursue a Master’s degree in Mathematics at The University of Texas at El Paso. Little did I know that this decision would lead me down a path of discovery, innovation, and scholarly achievement.

My Master’s thesis delved into the realm of machine learning, where I focused on addressing emerging challenges in classification algorithms under the supervision of Dr. Miguel Argaez. Through rigorous research and simulation, I sought to contribute a novel solution to the new issue of classification problems.

Upon completing my Master’s degree with success, I wasted no time in transitioning to the next phase of my academic pursuit. Immediately after, I enrolled in the Doctoral program in Computational Sciences at The University of Texas at El Paso.

My doctoral research received prestigious funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF), allowing me to delve into the development of a Compact Hybrid-Variable Method with High Order Accuracy under the supervision of my Ph.D. advisor, Dr. Xianyi Zeng. This innovative method promised to revolutionize numerical solutions in various industries, including aerospace, automotive, and engineering, by offering unparalleled precision and efficiency.

In my quest to share my findings and engage with the broader scientific community, I had the privilege of presenting my work at the esteemed 4th Annual Meeting of the SIAM, where I exchanged insights and ideas with fellow researchers and scholars.

After years of dedication, perseverance, and countless hours spent in the pursuit of knowledge, May 2022 marked a significant milestone in my academic journey. With pride and gratitude, I successfully defended my Ph.D. dissertation titled “A Central Compact Hybrid-Variable Method With Spectral-Like Resolution,” the culmination of years of research, experimentation, and innovation.

Furthermore, I was honored to receive the “Academic and Research Excellence Graduate Student” award, a recognition of my contributions to the field of Computational Sciences.

As I reflect on my journey from Masters to Doctorate, I am humbled by the opportunities I have been afforded and inspired by the challenges I have overcome. Each milestone, whether big or small, has shaped me into the person I am today.

My Personal Life

I got married on a bright summer evening with Farhana on June 27, 2014, in front of our loved ones in Tikatuli, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The ceremony was celebrated with love, commitment, and a shared future. We knew we were starting a magnificent journey as we stood hand in hand, gazing into each other’s eyes.

Our love story began in 2008. Farhana and I were pulled to each other in ways we couldn’t understand amidst the stress of academic life, lectures, homework, and daily living. Our chats got closer, our gazes lingered, and our hearts beat together like they had found each other.

We laughed, cried, and had many happy and sad moments. We found comfort and understanding in one another, forging a friendship that seemed intended to last.

Like a complicated mathematical equation, our love journey has twists and turns, ups and downs, but one thing is constant: our love. Farhana’s brilliance and kindness inspire me daily, reminding me of the power of love and togetherness.

I am glad for the unexpected meeting that brought Farhana into my life over the years. We’ve had an amazing journey from Jagannath University’s classrooms to the USA, and I can’t wait to solve life’s mathematics together in the future.

Currently, I reside in Austin, Texas, alongside my cherished family. Our household is blessed with two wonderful children: my son, Faizan Ayad Hasan, and my daughter, Wazia Azrin Hasan.
